Successful

I want the money, money & the cars, cars & the clothes, the hoes.
I just wanna be, I jus wanna be successful.

Yea successful one of Drakes latest tracks out there from his mix tape. But the song is very inspiring. I mean except for the hoes part, I'm a married man. But the money, cars, clothes, etc. Yea its true I do wanna be successful. And I mean and I've always wanted that since way before this song even came out. But sometimes in life, as you review your life, thoughts come to mind. Like have you done all you can or is there more you can do reach your goals of being successful.

I know I'm still working on mines. And to some people success is measured on different levels. If you have your own car, place to live, and a job, married some people considered that successful. Some say being alive to see another day is successful. I know for me I've put my life into chapters. And these chapters obviously don't go in order. My life is like a book that is still in its editing stage. And the final copy won't be done till I move on.

One of the most recent chapters that just closed was me becoming unemployed and finding work. And boy was me finding work was so key in plans. Because my ultimate plan is to have a house of our own. And to me that will be success for me. Like I've told my friends before there comes a point in your life when you realize that your getting older. You need things of your own, you need to settle down. You cant live the wild life forever. It takes it's toll on you physically, mentally, and financially.

For me as I got older I realized these things and just made goals for myself. And I am slowly reaching these goals. And I will get there.

Just Rambling II

So I am finally employed. Yes, the humbled man has a found a company that likes his skills in the food service industry. They were willing to give me a chance which is all I asked for. I wanted them to look past the fact that I was terminated for attendance. I even mentioned it in both my interviews and I was still offered the job. And of course I gladly accepted.

I was so surprised when I received the email from the recruiting manager, telling that they liked my resume and were interested in having an interview with me. So I responded ASAP. Had a phone interview. She liked what she heard I guess cause right afterward she set me up with a second interview with the manager of the location. I went there did pretty good with that I guess, cause she gave me a tour of the area I would be working at, and then offered me the job. I was so happy man, took everything in me to keep my composure.

So I've been working there ever since this past Monday, you know orientation and a series of classes. Today was my first official day in my location. I think it went pretty well. Can't wait to learn more there. I'm going to try and turn the experiences that I learned at my previous job into pluses here. I learned a lot at my previous job and I am thankful to them for that. But it started to become a chore you know. And when I was out of work for this past month it gave me time to reflect. I realized that I have to make it the best for me. I will admit that there was a part of me that was concerned with what my fellow peers thought about the work I was putting out. But I shouldn't be concerned with what they think. It's about me doing what I know should be done. And whats right, not whats right in their eyes.

I'm serious about trying to get into a supervisor or management position. I'm 26 years old and I don't want to be an hourly for the rest of my life. I'm trying to look towards me and my wife's future. We trying to make this house chapter in our life a reality. That's why we trying to get the bills taking care of like right now. We gotta a few big bills we have to knock out but I believe we almost there. And I strongly do believe a house is in our future. But I gotta go that's enough rambling for now. Yall take care.

Applications 15, Interviews 3, Hirings 0

Man I hate waiting. I must of filled out like 15 or more applications. I had an Interview with the Hilton. He told me he would call, nothing. I had an interview with the Olive Garden, went well but their not hiring right now. They're slow but he's hoping to pick up more people when the holidays begin. So my fingers are still crossed with that one. Then I filled out an application for a new restaurant that is opening in my neighborhood. Had an interview right there.

Things were looking good she said that they were looking for maybe four more line cooks. They were suppose to be making phone calls today. Guess who didn't get one, that's right yours truly. I guess they assumed I was unreliable. I can't believe she asked me that. I mean it is a reasonable question to ask especially since I was fired from my last job due to my attendance. But see there is a story behind that. And I don't know how true what I heard is but, the reality is no job wants to hear it. Not enough room on the application to explain it, and not enough time during an interview.

It's hard for me to put it into words but pretty much what it all balls down to is that I technically shouldn't of been let go from my job. I'm having it looked into right now and I am waiting on word. But what got me fired was a new rule that was implemented at the beginning of this year. So what ever happened last year should of been cleared away within the old rules. But I don't want to get into conspiracy theories cause I could go all night.

But I totally believe what is killing me about getting hired with another job is this termination due to my attendance. I'm a reliable person, just that I get sick a lot. And most of it is due to me pushing myself with a lot of hours and not getting enough rest. But when I work I give my all at work on time always there. But enough of this. Ain't like a potential employer is reading this. I mean it'll be sweet. Maybe you can reach and get me a job. Ha ha.

But what it looks like is that I may have to apply for another theme park. I know I won't be happy there but I need a job desperately. At least then I will have work and it will be a lot easier to move into a job that I really want. But I'm going to wait on that. I have to see if my claim for unemployment went through. If that did then I'm going to wait and see if more jobs are hiring during the holiday season. Maybe that's what it is. I'm hoping and praying that's what it is. But it doesn't look like it. Because the first and third interview were two places that were just opening up and I didn't get the job. And I'm sick of this.

Sometimes I wish I could just win the lottery so me and my wife can go on an extended vacation and not worry about the everyday cares of working and maintaining a certain amount of hours to make rent or electric or whatever payment. I mean I would pay all of our bills off, by us a nice house so all we have to do is just pay the taxes on the land. Take care of our parents and then just go away.

But let me stop dreaming. This is reality, I'm an unemployed 26 year old. Who's hoping to start collecting on unemployment, and still waiting & calling jobs hes applied for hoping and praying for work. Ugh I need a job. I desperately need a job.

And the Search Continues

Yea and I'm still unemployed. I had a little glimmer of hope last week Monday when I got a call for an interview from a hotel I applied for. It looked promising. I thought yea I'm back in it before the week is up. I was wrong, never got the call back.

I must of applied to like 15-20 jobs and that was in my first 4 days of unemployment. On Wednesday of last week I had an interview at the olive garden. Unfortunately they weren't hiring at the moment. But the manager did tell me he might b needing an extra line cook around the holidays.

So hopefully that's my ticket in. In the mean time I keep applying every were I can. I've applied for unemployment. Hopefully I can get that. That way I can get some extra income into the house. I mean they usually pay you what you were getting paid at your last job. So here's hoping.
But this whole being unemployed really starts to get to you Na mean. Its like being on a vacation that you didn't want. And you start to feel like a burden. Or useless. I hate this feeling. I need to find something constructive to do. Something to pass the time by. And I got just the thing.

I'm going to start hitting the gym at least twice a day. You know keep me busy. I might as well get my weight down. I'm going to also start reading more. I got a book hear that I've been meaning to read for a while now. So I might as well get started.

Hopefully I will hear from jobs soon. I'm praying that I do. I'm going to start making some phone calls to. I need something to get me out this slump. Any way I'll holla

A Humbled Man

"That makes four man your done, just need your id and gate and we take a walk."

"OK sir here you go, let's do it."

Yeah the last dialogue spoken between me and my manager after I was terminated from my long standing job of almost 4 years. I mean I have nobody to blame but myself for this, I should of kept a better eye on my record card. I thought one thing which by the old rules was correct. But about 2 years ago the union contract was redrawn. Thus a whole new set of rules. Rules that no one usually finds out until its way to late. I won't go into details cause it upsets me but as I say, "it's what it is".

Did I like the job? At one point I did, My restaurant was the spot. I made a lot of good friends their. Not just in the state but in the country, and across the globe. And hey I met my wife there. So not to many complaints. I man I appreciated the managers. They were strict, but I didn't really since the favoritism amongst them. I knew it was there, I mean hey its always there Na mean. But at the time I started it was a good spot. There wasn't to much bull. But to be honest I did want out. But just not like this. You know, I wanted to leave on my own terms. I was already in the process of looking for another job. But then I get this, damn!

Now I can go ahead and spew a whole bunch of conspiracy stuff, which I thought of for a very long time. And was proven true that the managers was watching me and my wife, and that they had it in for me but whats done is done. So I digress and pray that I get a phone call soon. I mean I forgot how hard it is to look for a job. I must of filled out about 20 applications to date. And I'm about to fill out some more today while I'm here.

But I seriously felt humbled when I got terminated. I mean you take things like this for granted, but you need it. No matter how much you can't stand your job. Be grateful you have one. And you know maybe this happened for a reason. Maybe it was done to do just this, humble me. Or maybe it was my time to go and find something better suited for my skills. Only time will tell. And I'm hoping whatever happens, happens soon. Because I'm tired of being unemployed. But whatever doesn't kill me only makes me stronger. But a job gives me purpose and I miss it.

Another Chapter Closes & A New One Opens

So the wedding has come and gone. What a night, and you know whats funny? It went by very quickly. I mean all these months of preparation and everything. Only for a few hours of fun. But it was so worth it. What i feared the most never happened and it all went good. Even though I was more nervous then I had ever been in my life. I mean I was sweating up a storm. I was so calm months, weeks, days, even hours before the wedding. But then as the minutes started to countdown the nerves started to kick in and it was recking haha.

But me and my wife were able to get through it. We had a very good turn out of people. Of course some didn't make it but its all good as me and her said. Those that wanted to be there were there, & thats what it is. And those that did show up I am espicially gratefull to them. They were able to take time out of their busy schedules to come and support us in this decesion we made to join as one. And I love them for that. And to those truly couldn't make mad luv to you to.

But like I said It was a great night the time preparing for was a trip. I mean scrambling to get the money and busting my butt at work with those hours. Having to deal with the hate and jealousy being thrown our way. Everybody wanting to go and mad cause they didn't get invite. I mean it was a trip. And yea I guess some people just automatically thought they were going to the wedding. Uh no! Pretty those that recieved an invite were ones that I hang out with on a regular basis outside of work, or talk to regularly.

Man there was even a point when I didn't think I was going to get my suit for the wedding but I was able to pull it off. Thanks Mom & Dad, I love yall. I think one defineing moment for me was when her brother came back from Puerto Rico with the rings I purchased. We ordered them a month and half ago and received them 4 days before the wedding. And they fit perfect. See we got from a Zales out there in PR. Were I was approved for a Zales card and recieved a card discount. Not to mention an employee discount from a friend of her twin sister. Also a going out of business sale. So not only was able to get the ring she wanted but I was able for whole lot less.

Got into a little trouble at work over my shaving but it all paid off in the end. My cut was sharp as I needed to be. I was happy to see my good friends Danielle and Tonesha come through for the wedding. They stayed at our place and it was a good week. Especially since Danielle made my favorite dessert in the world, apple pie. And something about the way she makes it, mmmmm good.

And like I said before I was so nervous before the wedding. Man I was so nervous that the photographer went and got me a vodka on the rocks to calm my nerves. Man shout out to the photographer Fred for that. He took some amazing pictures at the wedding. Whatever we wanted he did. And he stayed a little past the paid time, mad love bro.

And shout out to my big brother Ron G. He did the videography for me and it came out perfect. DVD coming soon. He gots some real great footage. Thanks Ron G. DVD is my next big project, and its gonna take a while. The after party was real fun. We had a small group of friends return back to our place and we just kept drinking and playing beer pong. We tried to finish off the keg but it was impossible. There was keg stands and that was funny.
But as this chapter in my life comes to an end I look forwarding to spending many years with my wife. And looking forward to the next chapter wich is us getting our house by the time our lease is up for the apartments we are currently staying. And I'll keep you up to date on that. Yall be safe and as always 1 luv.

RUMORS

I feel like I'm working at a rumor mill. I mean I've heard some rumors be for but the way there coming out right now especially since it's getting closer and closer to my wedding its utterly ridiculous. So I get into work yesterday and one the cast members I invited to my wedding Carly* asked me a question. The question was do the people attending the wedding have to pay for there own food at the reception?

So I told Carly no, what kinda nonsense is that, I mean only way that happens if I invite to come celebrate with me and my wife at a restaurant at which in that point yea you have to pay for your food. But this a full blown wedding. We just want the people we invited there to come and have a good time with us. She said OK because she heard that we have to pay for your food.

So I asked Carly who told you this, she said don't worry about it. I said how am I not gonna worry about when people are already spreading rumors about the wedding in order to stop people from going. And don't which group of people that are doing it. Its sickening. I mean its like I've said before we are all adults here. Resorting to such tactics like spreading rumors is a childish move that should of stoped back in high school. This is the real world Na mean. But I guess some people don't think like that anymore.

And to try to stop people from coming to our wedding because you didn't get an invitation is stupid. I mean we can't invite everybody. Anyway I'm out, be safe every one and as always 1luv
